Storm Water and Facility Wastewater
Storm Water (and Facility Wastewater Combined with Storm Water) permitting and compliance is required before any industrial or construction activities can commence
Peace Environmental employs a full cadre of environmental health and safety professionals, most of which have achieved their designation as Professional Engineers, (PE), Certified Safety Professionals (CSP) and Certified Industrial Hygienists (CIH).
What We Do
Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP)
A facility-specific SWPPP needs to be prepared by an Environmental Professional before any permit applications can be filed
Environmental Permitting
A Notice of Intent (NOI) needs to be filed before any industrial activity can begin on-site. The NOI must be followed up by an NOC whenever changes occur on-site
Compliance with Permit Conditions
An Environmental Permit also requires compliace measuresnce like Periodic Inspections, Trainings, Water Sampling and Regulatory Reporting
Applicability of Storm Water Regulations
Stormwater runoff is generated from rain and snowmelt events that flow over land or impervious surfaces, such as paved streets, parking lots, and building rooftops, and does not soak into the ground. The runoff picks up pollutants like trash, chemicals, oils, and dirt/sediment that can harm our rivers, streams, lakes, and coastal waters. To protect these resources, communities, construction companies, industries, and others, use stormwater controls, known as best management practices (BMPs). These BMPs filter out pollutants and/or prevent pollution by controlling it at its source.
EPA has authorized many states to administer the NPDES stormwater permitting program. Most industrial facilities will need to obtain NPDES permit coverage through their state. EPA remains the permitting authority in a few states, most territories, and most Indian country. For industrial facilities located in those areas, permit coverage is available under EPA’s 2015 Multi-Sector General Permit (MSGP).
Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans
Most facilities need to prepare an SWPPP to comply with the storm water general permit before applying for said permit. Our environmental professionals perform a thorough assessment of each facility to ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations
Trainings
Compliance with the storm water general permit also requires all employees to ensure best management practices training. These trainings are site-specific, and customized for each site and facility
Periodic Inspections
Quarterly and Annual inspections by an environmental professional are required to comply with the general permit. Depending on the industrial activities being performed at the facility, it may also require monthly, or weekly inspections
Water Sampling & Reporting
All facilitities are required to conduct water sampling and/or visual monitoring to comply with the storm water general permit. Our environmental professionals provide the sampling kits, transportation, analysis and regulatory reporting for all required samples
Permitting Compliance
To get authorization under the storm water general permit, facilites are required to submit a notice of intent (NOI). Any subsequest changes to the facility require the submisson of a notice of change (NOC) to all regulatory bodies invloved
